| “It’s extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to impact people’s lives in a positive manner. That’s why I take my responsibility to my clients so seriously.”
– MARK HORCH |
He was only 14 years old at the time, but Mark Horch still remembers the trip he took to Toronto to see the Maple Leafs square off against the Chicago Blackhawks. In fact, it’s a night he’ll never forget. Not because he was a big Maple fan or because anything especially memorable occurred during the game. No, the reason Mark will always remember that game is because of what it meant he’d accomplished. At the time, he was a paperboy for the Winnipeg Free Press. Mark had won that trip as a result of his strong work ethic and outstanding performance. Over the next two years, he was also awarded a new bike and a shiny gold watch.
Symbols of Success
For Mark, that trip, that bike and that gold watch symbolized more than his success as paperboy. They were an indication of his newfound independence and the discipline required to succeed in life. “I still remember something my manager, Gus Webber, told me one day. He said, ‘Mark, I have no qualms about you. You’re going to do well in the future.’ That really meant a lot to me at the time, and still does to this day.”
Gus was right. After graduating from college and eventually the seminary as well, Mark went on to impact many people’s lives as a pastor for 20 years. He retired from the church in 2002 and took a year off to enjoy life with his wife, Karen, and their three children. It was then that he decided to pursue a new challenge, professionally. He sought a position in which he could still work with people in a meaningful way. He found it in real estate.

Mark had always loved everything to do with houses, so real estate was a natural fit. His caring, compassionate nature makes him an outstanding guide when the time comes for your next move. And not unlike the trip, the bike and the gold watch, Mark has developed a unique “symbol of success” when it comes to helping his clients buy or sell a home. He explains it best: “My goal isn’t to just finish the transaction,” Mark says. “My goal is for every one of my clients to be happy in their new house five years down the road.”
Mark’s long-term view is appreciated by his clients. The secret to his success is getting to the root of each client’s goals and desires, not just for the immediate future, but for the long run. Mark then tailors his service to those specific goals, always making your complete satisfaction his No. 1 priority. He’s extremely detail oriented, which means his organizational skills will keep your transaction on track from start to finish. Having renovated houses himself, he’s also adept at helping his clients see the possibilities in a property.
